welfare of everyone in and around the community. The Department consists of eleven Firemen, four Emergency Medical Technicians, one Paramedic, and one Registered Nurse.

Fire Truck The 1987 E-One Fire Truck carries 1000 gallons of water and is capable of pumping 1000 gallons per minute through a combination of
its deck gun, hose lines, and booster reel. Additional equipment carried on the truck includes five air packs (also called Self Contained Breathing Apparatus or SCBA) which allow
firefighters to work in hot and toxic environments, as well as a variety of hoses up to 6 inches in diameter, ladders, and fans. |

Rescue Truck
The Rescue Truck is a converted 1989 Chevy four-door pickup. The Truck carries EMS supplies including a well-equipment medical bag, oxygen tanks, and an Automatic External
Defibrillator (AED). The truck also carries rescue equipment such as the Jaws of Life, water rescue equipment and supplies (floating backboard, basket and lifting winch), a generator, portable lights, and two SCBAs.

Funding The majority of TIVFD funding is provided by donations from Tiki residents. Additional funds are generated by contracts with the Village of Tiki Island and Galveston County, the sale of
shirts and koozies, and other fund-raising activities. Funds are used for maintenance of equipment, medical supplies, and training, as well as for the purchase of new equipment. Fire fighting and EMS are expensive activities and finances are always tight.
Additional financial contributions are always needed as well as ideas and assistance for other fund-raising efforts.

Other Community Activities TIVFD is involved in several other community projects. Every Christmas, Santa (aka John Tobey, Pump Engineer and Emergency Management Director) rides through the Village greeting Tiki children (0 to 90+ years old). TIVFD
participates in Muscular Dystrophy Association's Fill-the-Boot campaign and sponsors community-wide American Heart Association CPR training.
